We're a small, customer-funded Canadian company building mentoring software that actually works. No venture capital. No hype. Just practical tools designed for organizations that take mentoring—and its outcomes—seriously.
We built Mentorfy because we've lived both sides of the mentoring story.
— Dapo Bankole, Founder
I came to Canada in 2012 as a skilled immigrant with over a decade of international experience. My credentials were real. My track record was real. But none of it transferred the way I expected.
A mentor changed everything. Not through a formal program with intake forms and quarterly check-ins. Just someone who answered my questions, made introductions, and helped me see possibilities I couldn't see on my own.
That single relationship didn't just help me find my footing. It showed me how much gets lost when people can't find each other.
I saw settlement agencies and immigrant-serving organizations running mentoring programs that genuinely changed lives—but managing them with spreadsheets, email chains, and guesswork. Coordinators who couldn't see whether relationships were thriving or failing. Matches that went silent with no early warning. Funder reports assembled in a panic the week they were due.
The tools that existed weren't built for this work. They were complex, expensive, and designed for procurement departments—not for the people doing the actual mentoring. They solved for features, not for visibility.
Mentorfy started in Calgary in 2022. Not from venture capital or a corporate innovation lab, but from frustration, firsthand experience, and a question I couldn't stop asking: why is it so hard to see what's actually happening inside a mentoring program?
It's also the question at the centre of my doctoral research at Royal Roads University, where I study why mentor-protégé relationships break down in pre-employment mentoring programs for skilled immigrants. My research and my work with Mentorfy are driven by the same question: how do we design mentoring systems that actually work? The research deepens the understanding. The platform puts it into practice.
Behind Mentorfy is Mopheth Systems Corp., the enterprise software company I've led since 2015. I've spent 26 years delivering complex platforms for organizations including Lululemon, TELUS, and Shaw. Mentorfy is built with the same rigour—the security, scalability, and reliability that program administrators and their funders expect—but designed for simplicity. No bloat. No consultants required.
We fund ourselves through customer revenue, which means we build what you actually need. Every feature exists because a real person running a real program told us it would make their job easier.
I also host The Immigrant Life podcast (immigrantlife.ca), hold the Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) designation, and serve on the boards of Windmill Microlending and Momentum Community Economic Development Society. I've spoken on stages including TEDx about what it takes to rebuild professional identity after immigration.
Every mentoring relationship that fails silently is potential left unrealized. Every program coordinator operating in the dark is outcomes that never get measured. Every organization that can't prove its impact to funders is a program at risk of losing the support it needs to continue.
We built Mentorfy for the organizations doing the hardest and most important mentoring work in Canada—settlement agencies, workforce integration programs, and the people who help skilled immigrants rebuild their professional lives. We built it because we've been on both sides of that journey. And we built it because mentoring is too important to manage in the dark.
We're here to give you the visibility to run your program with confidence—simply, transparently, and well.
What makes us different from other mentoring platforms
Your data stays in Canada. Period.
All member information is stored on Canadian servers and designed to help you meet PIPEDA requirements. No cross-border data transfers. No wondering where your participants' information lives or who has access to it.
This matters for grant compliance, public sector contracts, and organizations that take privacy seriously.
You know what you'll pay before you commit.
Fixed annual per-member pricing ($85-145/member/year depending on program size). No "active user" surprises. No monthly reconciliation battles. No wondering if success means higher bills.
We publish our pricing publicly because we believe organizations deserve to budget with confidence.
No IT department. No training sessions. No implementation consultants.
Choose your program format, set your matching criteria, invite participants, and go live—all in one sitting. One client launched in 45 minutes.
The platform is intuitive enough that program coordinators can run it themselves. Because mentoring programs shouldn't require a technical degree to operate.
Start with 100 members. Grow to 2,000+. Run multiple concurrent programs.
The platform scales with you—same simplicity, same pricing structure, no sudden complexity when you hit arbitrary thresholds.
Automated workflows mean you can support 10x more participants without hiring 10x more staff.
We don't have venture capital investors pushing us toward bloat and exits.
Every feature exists because a real customer said, "This would make my program better." We build what you need—not what impresses boardrooms or looks good in pitch decks.
You fund us through subscriptions. We serve you, not investors.
Most "enterprise" platforms are complex because they were built by enterprise software companies.
Mentorfy was built by someone who's run mentoring programs and felt the pain of overcomplicated tools. We default to simple. We add features only when they solve real problems.
If something feels harder than it should be, tell us. We'll fix it.
How we work and why it matters
We don't try to be an all-in-one HR suite or a "community platform" or whatever else sells at conferences.
We focus on doing one thing really well: helping organizations run structured mentoring programs that actually work.
This focus means we can move fast, listen closely, and build features that matter—instead of maintaining bloated product lines nobody asked for.
We're a small, profitable, customer-funded Canadian company. We're not a venture-backed rocket ship with unlimited budgets and 200-person teams.
What this means for you:
We're building a real business, not a valuation story.
Mentoring isn't magic—it's structure, consistency, and genuine human connection.
Good mentoring programs need:
We built Mentorfy around these realities. The platform supports good mentoring practices—it doesn't replace them.
Being based in Calgary isn't just a fun fact—it shapes how we work:
Data sovereignty matters here. Canadian organizations shouldn't have to explain to their legal teams why participant data lives in Virginia.
Privacy regulations are real. PIPEDA compliance isn't optional for many of our customers—it's a requirement.
Dollar conversions hurt. Paying $40 USD/user/month when the exchange rate swings isn't "just business"—it's a budget killer for Canadian nonprofits and universities.
Whether you're launching your first program or fixing one that's not working, we'd like to hear what you're trying to accomplish.
